Taronga Conservation Society Australia is a founding member of the International Rhino Foundation (IRF) and continues to provide support for many of its activities in both Asia and Africa.
The Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary (SRS) at Way Kambas National Park is a conservation breeding centre for the critically endangered Sumatran Rhino. The surrounding Way Kambas National Park is home to a small wild population of the 70 remaining Sumatran Rhinos, where staff work hard to ensure the health of the individuals and viability of the population overall.
The fate of this critically endangered species relies on the work of the SRS, Wildlife Protection Units (WPUs) and the support and engagement of the local and international community.
Your adventure awaits
Together with a Taronga Guide, you will spend 8 days exploring Way Kambas National Park, found on the South East Coast of the Indonesian Island of Sumatra covering 130,000 hectares of lowland rainforest.
Your adventure begins in the heart of Indonesia, Jakarta where your Taronga Guide will meet your group at your Jakarta hotel, before departing to one the world's most renowned biodiversity hotspots, Way Kambas National Park. Here, you will experience the true magic of your trip, with each day bringing the opportunity to see incredible animal species, including the Sumatran Rhinoceros, Asian Elephants, Gibbons and birds. You will also have opportunities to meet the local communities, and be involved in local conservation programs.

Do I need travel insurance?
Yes, travel insurance is compulsory for all travellers and must provide adequate cover for cancellation, delays in travel, loss or damage to baggage and valuables, medical and hospital expenses for injury or illness, and emergency evacuation.
Is the travel cost guaranteed?
Travel costs may vary due to unforeseeable circumstances or factors beyond our control, such as fluctuating exchange rates and increases in airfares, and airline and airport taxes. The travel cost will be confirmed at the time of invoicing.
